The Goose Wine Estate is based in the unique Upper-Langkloof valley, nestled just behind the Outeniqua Mountains on the picturesque Garden Route of South Africa. The name on the Farm’s Title Deed is “Ganzekraal”, which means “Goose Closure” or “Goose Enclave”. The farm and the surrounding area were given the name over a century ago when Wild Geese from the area flew down during the day to rest in the cattle and sheep closures. They would forage on the seeds and pips in the feed, while the animals were out on pasture.

The Tradouw Highlands is an exceptional area located some 750m above sea level on a plateau extending from the Langeberg Mountains into the Little Karoo. Of our total land area of some 2,168ha of land, 1,000ha or 46% is set aside for conservation which extends from Mountain Fynbos, which borders on Marloth Nature Reserve, to Renosterbosveld bordering on Sanbona Game Reserve.
Joubert-Tradauw is a family-owned private cellar in the Tradouw Valley in the Klein Karoo/Little Karoo region on the famous R62 route. The farm is located just outside the picturesque village of Barrydale. Life around here is mainly about two things: fruit of the vine and the work of human hands. Step into the clean, crisp air and onto the rich, fertile soil of the Tradouw Valley.
On the sunlit north facing slope of Cradock Peak, the highest crest of the Outeniqua Mountain range running parallel to the Southern Cape coast and creating part of the scenic attraction of the Garden Route, is the flourishing Herold Wines vineyard. Bounded on three sides by nature reserve, it is a remote and idyllic setting, the vineyards embraced by lofty mountains covered with dramatic stands of fynbos.
Bergwater Wines is owned by two brothers, Heimie and Stephan Schoeman. “We as owners of Bergwater Wines are privileged to have the opportunity to responsibly manage our precious resources to produce world class wines.”
The winemaker is Jacques Kruger. He joined Bergwater Wines in January 2013, taking over responsibilities from former winemaker, Mariska Vorster.
