Topiary

Topiary

Topiary wines was originally a fruit farm called laTramontane until 2005 when the previous owner Roy Andrews with a winemaking/viticultural team of Chris Albrecht, Malcolm Pemberton and Mark Carmichael Green built a cellar and a tasting room and launched Topiary wines.

In August 2014 2 French vinophiles became enchanted with Topiary’s 17 hectares of vineyards and purchased the estate. Philippe Colin is the winemaking partner. From Burgundy where he makes some of the most acclaimed Chassagne Montrachet Philippe is one of the guardians of the famous Colin-Deleger vineyard. Philippe’s business partner Serge Jaczynski is a sommelier from Southern France who counts amongst his clients Michelin 3 star restaurants and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie who’s wine he represents. This boutique cellar is located in the Wemmershoek Mountain‘s foothills, amongst the fynbos and fauna of Franschhoek Wetlands and when driving up to the farm, you can lay eyes on our topiary masterpieces. The winery can process about 64 tons of grapes utilising a sophisticated sorting line. Once the grapes have been sorted, put into a satellite tank and transferred to fermentation tanks via a gravity pulley system. Go and enjoy a wine tasting on the spacious patio overlooking the topiary plants and views of three mountain ranges.

This estate also hosts weddings and functions in the tasting centre and gardens which have been developed with the topiary plant theme and boasts 30 magnificent plant designs. Children are welcome and the tasting centre is wheelchair friendly.
