Barton Vineyards

Barton Wines

A beautiful, tranquil, 200 hectare wine farm lying at the foot of the Hottentot Holland’s mountain range in the Botriver Valley, Barton borders the Kogelberg National Eco Park on the one side and looks across the valley to the Bablionsberg mountains on the other.  The land was purchased in 2001 by the Neill family of Great Britain.

The vines are planted on the southern slopes of the Kogelberg Mountains at 190 meters above sea level where they absorb the cool breezes from Walker Bay, which come in every afternoon during the ripening season as the hot air rises. The frost free cool climate and southerly aspect produces a slow ripening period which we believe is beneficial for the colour and tannin for the red wines and the concentration of fruit and acidity for the white wine.

Our wine maker, PJ Geyer, is passionate about his wines especially his Merlot which has acquired a 4.5 star rating in the John Platter Wine Guide.
