TGP White 2014 is a proud Grande Provence flag bearer

Grande Provence

Grande Provence has just released the second vintage of its flagship TGP White 2014 – a formidable blend of Chenin blanc and Viognier crafted from some of the oldest and most exceptional parcels of Franschhoek vines.

Ultra-elegant and sophisticated, dressed in a new embossed cotton paper label, the TGP White 2014 has big shoes to fill after the maiden 2013 vintage scored a whopping 95/100 in UK based Decanter Magazine last year. The wine is a triumph for winemaker Karl Lambour and attests to his sheer determination to produce exceptional wine from great vineyards.

“The combination of two special vineyard sites make up our superb signature white. Chenin blanc grapes come from an exceptional gnarled, 34 year old vineyard producing wonderfully concentrated but low yielding fruit on the mountain slopes of Franschhoek. For the Viognier component, we found a little block higher up the mountain. It gave such amazingly perfumed grapes that I had to keep it separate,” says Lambour.

The wine, comprising 60% Chenin blanc and 40% Viognier, is a pure expression of fruit and texture. Aged on the lees for 12 months in older French Oak bariques to preserve the essence of the blend, the 2014 vintage is full-bodied with upfront peach and floral aromas that follow through onto the palate, supported by well integrated oak.

It is superb with a fresh seafood platter, delicious steamed mossel pot or fresh crusty home baked bread with lashing of rich farm butter.
